While my upcoming book, I love you my Goose, is primarily a book devoted to my son’s battle with childhood cancer, the book has a number of important other themes. One of those topics involves the outpouring of help and support I received from my lawyer friends during my son’s battle with the disease. The chapter in the book dealing with this issue is entitled Lawyers have a heart which I point out in the book may appear to be a ‘man bites dog story.’ But the outpouring of help from lawyers including some I didn’t even know was monumental. Earlier this week I gave a presentation to the Bourbon County Bar Association about the book and the effect that lawyers with a heart had on my journey with childhood cancer. This will be the first of a number of such presentations to lawyer groups. After all as one of those in attendance at the bar meeting said: “It is always good to hear somebody say something good about a lawyer?”

This book tells the story of an 11 year old boy who was diagnosed with cancer and fought a courageous battle with the disease before losing his life a day before his 14th birthday. The book is authored by the boy's dad and seeks to bring public attention to the horror of childhood cancer by putting a face on this childhood killer.
