William Stuart Nelson (1895-1977) born in Paris, Kentucky authored several important works and became an influential leader in African-American education and a friend of Martin Luther King. He was the first African-American president of Dillard University in New Orleans. He graduated from Yale and studied at the University of Paris and the University of Berlin.
